Transport Manager - Bulk Fuels
Our client is currently seeking a Transport Manager to oversee their transport operations in Immingham, North Lincs. The Transport Manager will be responsible for managing a team of drivers, optimising efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the transport department in the bulk fuels sector.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a team of drivers and transport staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for the team and conduct regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
Transportation Operations:
- Oversee the planning and execution of routes to ensure timely and efficient delivery of fuel products to customers.
- Optimise transport schedules and routes to minimise costs, reduce fuel consumption, and maximise fleet efficiency.
- Coordinate with routers, drivers, sales team and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and seamless operations.
- Liaise with stakeholders to ensure optimum drivers resources are trained and available to be deployed at all times.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations, including driver hours regulations, vehicle inspections, and hazardous materials transportation requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment for all transportation staff.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any safety or compliance issues.
Customer Service:
- Liaise with sales and customer service teams to address customer enquiries, resolve delivery issues, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Proactively communicate with sales team regarding delivery schedules, delays, or other relevant information.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the transport department and implement effective solutions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track transport performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications/Experience
CPC international qualification required.
- NEBOSH would be advantageous.
- DGSA
- Proven experience in transport management, preferably in the fuels industry or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of transport regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
