Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager the successful candidate will have full responsibility of all transportation solutions within the depot, manage the performance of 3rd party haulage providers, trunking operations and transportation planning, management of Internal fleet of vehicles including legal and H&S compliance, contract agreement, SLA’s and International partner agreements and SLA’s.
Key responsibilities are-
- Driving Health and Safety across the business and geographically spread team, including the third-party haulage providers
- P&L management of transport team budget – to be achieved through clear process alignment, reporting and KPIs delivered across the matrix organisation
- Budget setting, monitoring, management, and control to achieve optimum value for money and cost efficiencies in the transport functions
- Contractual and performance management of transport partners, ensuring SLA's and high-level customer experience is achieved
- Overall governance of transport planning activities, embedding best practice across all disciplines
- Leading strategic projects for overall optimisation of your fleet, to include the external courier management across site operations
- Ensure vehicle fleet remain compliant across all aspects of legislation, service delivery responsibility for all sectors of transportation within London depot , driving continued P&L performance and growth of business opportunity
- Deliver year-on-year cost reductions through driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business
- Management, training, and development of a team.
- Full ownership of fuel and other consumable purchase and cost control across all fleet
- Daily, weekly, Monthly, and quarterly reporting as required
- To be flexible and be able to offer support to other Branches in the event of increased demand/ sickness, etc.
- To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues, in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and relevant legislation, including reporting any health and safety hazard immediately you become aware of it.
The Successful Candidate
The Transport Manager will have the following skills and experience -
- Existing experience working as transport manager within Logistics, with experience across both warehouse & transport operations
- Proven experience managing couriers and third parties with ability to demonstrate cost-reduction and service improvements
- Analysing current transportation operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in similar environment
- Complex, multi-functional problem solving and process improvements
- Team player with high work ethic
- Excellent people management skill
- Can do attitude & Embrace challenges as opportunities
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent communicator with internal and external stakeholders
- Professional, self-motivated, confident, positive and flexible
- Full UK driving licence
