Job Description
Job Title: Transport Manager
Responsible to: Managing Director
The Individual
You will be responsible for all aspects of transport operations within the company. Working as part of a team, you will be heavily involved in various operations from day-to-day challenges through to project managing and specifying new additions to the commercial fleet.
You are likely to have several years’ experience in transport management and be able to demonstrate success and a clear understanding of all aspects required to ensure the profitable running of a transport fleet.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Main tasks
- Administer the requirement of the Operator’s Licence ensuring that all regulatory aspects are met including vehicle servicing, defects, and contraventions.
- Contract negotiation and management of leased commercial fleet.
- Effectively managing a commercial fleet of 32 vehicles ranging from 3.5t to 38t loft loader.
- Ensuring full legal compliance of delivery fleet and drivers
- Development of drivers and transport team.
- Managing operations to budget and ensuring ongoing efficient and effective management of all resources.
- Ensuring that all transport related initiatives and KPI’s are monitored and reviewed.
- Providing effective procurement and supply of vehicles, plant, and equipment.
- Monitor the transport operation to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies, procedures, and safety.
- Promote safe working activities, conducting audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
- Administer driving license checks.
- Manage lease contracts, servicing/maintenance contracts.
- Manage fuel card usage, investigate any discrepancies relating to improper use, unexpected expenditure, irregular fuel use.
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints.
- Liaise and monitor direct activities of third-party providers performing repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Accident management/Investigations and dealing with Insurance companies and third-party repairers.
- To implement and review all procedures, policy and documentation related to FORS
In addition to the above requirements, you must hold a CPC, FORS Practitioner certificate and a clean driving licence.
