Job Description

Reporting to the Transport Manager, the Transport Coordinator will oversee distribution of products across greater London Area and liaise with UK transport firms to arrange pick up, delivery and storage of a range of products. Within this role, you will assist in managing the company's transport operation. The company has its own fleet and uses 3rd party and sub-contractors for all its transport operations so previous experience in booking, negotiating, and dealing with these are essential.

You will deal with the customer and keep them in the loop throughout the entire process whilst also updating the internal transport system with delivery notes and timings ensuring the customers’ expectations are met and exceeded.

Key responsibilities are-

  • Monitoring and tracking deliveries to ensure deliveries are in accordance with the schedules
  • Monitoring and reporting driver issues such as: accidents, safety concerns, road closures etc
  • Completing general transport administrative tasks such as delivery confirmation reports for customers, data reconciliation for accounts, KPI reporting and driver compliance checks.
  • You will be the first point of contact for Drivers, customers by telephone & email
  • Transport Planner will be inputting orders / information on several systems
  • Moving/rearranging vehicles in the yard

The Successful Candidate

The Transport Coordinator role requires the following skills and experience

  • Proven experience dealing with Sub-contractors & 3rd party haulage firms
  • UK haulage and transport knowledge
  • Knowledge of warehouse & storage facilities and processes
  • Excellent and proven Excel IT skills and experience
  • Experience negotiating rates, prices and time frames with external transport firms
  • Skill set to build relationships with new and existing hauliers
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of warehousing and distribution operations is desirable
  • Full driving licence
  • Working knowledge of Truckstop/NAV/Transend or any other TMS /ERP desirable but not essential Full training will be provided

This is an early position and requires a 6 am start

Working shifts are between 05:30-15:00 and 12:00-21:30

In return

£25k - £27k annual salary (dependant on experience) plus benefits package.
